I am inlove with painting on gold gesso.  Thank you, Carla O'Connor for turning me on to this.

Positano Mannequin Watercolor on Gold Gesso

This is from a photo I took in Positano.  They have mannequins sitting or standing in the proximity of the shops instead of using store windows.  She is a mini, 2.5 x 3/5", and I hope to do one similar in a larger size.  The underpainting is gold gesso, so she has a bit of a sparkle where the gold peeks through the watercolor.

From our visit to the National Arboretum

Bob and I went to the 64th Annual Orchid Show at the National Arboretum this morning.  I took over 500 photos to use as references for paintings.  Here are a few paintings from those reference photos.

My geisha is about finished.  I could not get the same effects that I did with superimposing the palm fronts over her photo, but I think these fronds look pretty,  Now, she will sit on the mantle for a few days while I decide if she needs more or if she is ready to frame.
