One evening, after dinner, I just was not finished painting so went back to the studio.  This painting just emerged and then I could go to bed.

Luscious Lily

Luscious Lily 9 x 12"

This watercolor painting was created by pouring paint onto wet paper.  Then I placed texture elements, (salt, waxed paper, gauze, and Saran wrap, down on the wet paint.  I drizzled some paint behind the Saran and waxed paper.  When I was dry, I put it on the mantle in the den to incubate, hoping to find something in there to use as a center of interest.  When unsuccessful, I found a picture of some hibiscus and cut them out and placed on the painting.  Then I drew in my flowers, painted the background, adding more texture, and added some detail in the flowers.  My final step was to use a rubber stamp to add a unifying texture in the background.  I really like the way this one turned out.
